Partnerships with Finnish company Nokia and Swedish company Ericsson
Tango and Proximus NXT are proud to announce their partnerships with Finnish company Nokia and Swedish company Ericsson to bring the best of tomorrow’s mobile networks to the Luxembourg market.
Combining proven global expertise, this partnership will enable the market to benefit from an entirely new mobile network and experience the 5G of the future.
For the mobile RAN (Radio Access Network), Nokia was selected both to actively participate in the deployment of the 5G network and to progressively modernize the existing 2G, 3G and 4G networks by 2023.
For the mobile data Core Network, Ericsson was selected for its dual-mode 5G core. Built natively on a cloud infrastructure, this cutting-edge solution supports 5G NR Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA), as well as 4G, 3G and 2G technologies.
“Our customers will be able to experience an entirely new level of service thanks to our mobile network. By combining Nokia’s expertise in RAN with Ericsson’s expertise in the Core Network, we are partnering with two European champions in technology and innovation. This collaboration is a key part of executing our network strategy. We are delighted to work with these European players. We have chosen the best for this new stage in the digital transformation of the Luxembourg economy and society as a whole,” said Gérard Hoffmann, CEO of Proximus Luxembourg.
Tommi Uitto, President of Nokia’s Mobile Networks business, said: “We are delighted and proud to extend our long-standing partnership with Proximus in Luxembourg, which demonstrates the confidence they place in Nokia and our technology. Nokia was also recently selected by Proximus Belgium for 5G, and this contract further strengthens our strategic partnership with the Proximus Group. We look forward to supporting them in the deployment of 5G.”
“Ericsson currently operates more than 70 live 5G networks worldwide and has decades of experience. We have enjoyed a long-standing partnership with Tango, and they trust us to provide reliable, sustainable and secure connectivity for this crucial part of their network. Our cloud-native solutions enable an efficient transition to a long-term network, and thanks to our leading portfolio of 5G solutions, we are ready to support Tango and Proximus NXT in delivering 5G in Luxembourg,” concluded Rémi de Montgolfier, General Manager, Ericsson BeLux.
