"The tool is designed to manage complex accounting environments: multiple legal entities, different languages, all integrated into a single interface."
Facing ever-more complex accounting requirements, organizations are looking for reliable, scalable tools adapted to their environment. GESALL, developed locally, stands out for its pragmatic approach, modularity, and the close support provided by its teams. We take a closer look at a solution that combines professional expertise with digital continuity with Stéphane Pilotti, Senior Project Manager, GESALL Development, Proximus NXT.

A local foundation with versatile uses

Designed and developed in Luxembourg, GESALL has supported accounting professionals for over forty years in managing their operations. Initially conceived as a traditional bookkeeping software, it has evolved through successive generations to incorporate modern technological requirements. Today, it is built on a modern infrastructure using .NET and SQL Server.

Installed in both SMEs and organizations with complex needs, GESALL is appreciated for its rich functionality and adaptability to a wide range of user profiles. "At its core is a standard accounting module, complemented by additional modules: payment import/export, analytics, domiciliation, budget management, and electronic invoicing. The tool is designed to handle complex accounting environments: multiple legal entities and different languages can be integrated into a single interface. It also centralizes operations and consolidates data, including across affiliated companies," explains Stéphane Pilotti.

The platform also allows complete export of accounting reports (eCDF format) according to standard formats and includes an invoicing module compatible with Peppol, meeting the requirements of public administrations.

Tailored configurations

Fiduciaries, foundations, hospitals, and SMEs all have very different accounting needs—but GESALL proves particularly adaptable. The strength of the solution lies in its standardized structure, deployed identically across clients while allowing fine customization through additional modules.

"A fiduciary primarily seeks fast data entry and efficient handling of large volumes of information. In contrast, an SME or foundation may require more detailed needs: analytical reports, granular entries, and precise monitoring of accounting items," illustrates Stéphane Pilotti.

This flexibility is GESALL’s core advantage: a common base enriched with modules according to use cases—donation journals, public grant management, analytical accounting, multi-bank flow management, etc. This allows each sector’s specific requirements to be met while ensuring a coherent user experience. The solution’s local design, aligned with Luxembourgish legislation, further strengthens its relevance. "Every organization, regardless of size or sector, can benefit from a tool that adapts to its reality while maintaining high performance and compliance," he adds.

A solution proven in practice

Many Luxembourgish organizations testify to GESALL’s tangible benefits in daily accounting operations. Luxlait, one of the country’s largest agri-food cooperatives, has been using the software since 2003 and migrated to GESALL.NET in 2017, a more modern and efficient version. This transition marked a significant digital milestone.

Thanks to automated bank statement entry and the client follow-up module, Luxlait has gained efficiency in accounting processing and administrative tracking. The software now enables smoother reporting for fiscal and social administrations while facilitating auditor access. GESALL’s configurability has proven particularly valuable for a company producing around 200 million liters of 100% Luxembourgish milk annually.

Another example is the Union Grand-Duc Adolphe (UGDA), a public utility foundation active in music education, which also adopted GESALL to support administrative development. With tailored modules like the donation journal, analytical accounting, and automated invoice import via OCR, the foundation automated processes, saved time, and secured operations. Integration with the Multiline module also simplifies payment management. UGDA highlights the high-quality personal support provided by GESALL and Apsal teams, maintaining a close client relationship. User workshops are regularly organized to share best practices.

Strong guarantees for data security

In a context where cybersecurity is a strategic priority, GESALL incorporates robust mechanisms to protect sensitive data. "Technically, the solution relies on a secure SQL Server database, benefiting from Microsoft infrastructure and standards. Every user action is logged, allowing full traceability, whether voluntary or accidental. For sensitive operations, such as banking transactions, 'four-eyes' rules can be activated to require dual validation and strengthen control," adds Stéphane Pilotti.

These options are fully configurable and adaptable to each organization’s realities: simple entry for smaller structures, more rigorous processes for complex or multi-user environments. Developed with Proximus expertise, the solution also benefits from high cybersecurity standards applied across the group, with regular updates ensuring regulatory compliance.
