Enrolling mobile devices
Device enrollment programs allow mobile fleet managers to preconfigure device settings via a dedicated web portal and register them in their company’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution.
Benefits for users
Device enrollment offers many advantages. First, once a device has been enrolled by the company’s IT team, the user only needs to turn it on to immediately access their full professional environment on their smartphone or tablet: email, company intranet, attachment handling, and more. During enrollment, devices are provisioned to automatically register with the company’s MDM solution.
“Concretely, when the user turns on their mobile device for the first time, it automatically connects to the enrollment tool and the company’s MDM system, which pushes the correct configuration profile to the device. The user can then access the services they need in a simple and seamless way, with no action required on their part,” explains Júlio Pinho, Telecom Product Manager at Proximus NXT.
Benefits for the company
Beyond simple configuration, devices can also be monitored, allowing restrictions to be defined, such as disabling certain gaming apps, content-sharing or messaging applications, and filtering web content.
However, device enrollment becomes especially valuable when it comes to automating mobile device deployment. Once a device is activated, fleet managers can immediately configure applications, accounts, and access rights without physically handling the device. For devices enrolled in a device enrollment program, no manual configuration is required—not even clicking a link to the MDM system to register the device. Users are also unable to bypass the MDM system or modify device management settings defined by the company’s security policy and mobility strategy.
“The mobile fleet manager, on their side, can continuously monitor device compliance, particularly in terms of security, while saving time on deployments,” Júlio Pinho emphasizes. “These automatic enrollment programs also ensure faster, simpler, and more efficient deployments, with fewer configuration errors and therefore lower costs.”
Reducing complexity
It is usually up to the user or IT administrator to enroll the device into the company’s MDM solution. This long and complex process is prone to errors and frustration and often results in only part of the company’s mobile fleet actually being enrolled.
To reduce this complexity and ensure consistent mobile fleet management, Proximus NXT has implemented a comprehensive offering in partnership with market leaders. Companies can thus benefit from the right solution to simplify mobile fleet deployment and improve the user experience.
A first in Luxembourg
“Proximus NXT already had the necessary partnerships to support Apple device enrollment solutions via Apple Business Manager, and Samsung via Knox Mobile Enrollment,” recalls Hugues Stiernon, Department Manager Telecom Solutions at Proximus NXT. “By adding Google Zero-Touch Enrollment to our service catalog, we now enable all our clients to benefit from the same user experience across almost all devices. Proximus NXT is today the only player in Luxembourg offering a complete range of enrollment solutions.”
By eliminating human intervention, Proximus NXT’s multi-vendor device enrollment offering improves efficiency and prevents configuration errors. And by preventing users from changing device settings, it provides an additional layer of security.
Proximus NXT, the first converged and digital operator in Luxembourg, is the only provider offering enterprise device enrollment solutions from the three major mobile ecosystems: Apple, Google, and Samsung. By adding Google Zero-Touch Enrollment (ZTE) to its portfolio, Proximus NXT ensures organizations receive a consistent enrollment experience across nearly all mobile devices available on the enterprise mobility market.
