Proximus NXT and Ledger Enterprise Solutions sign an agreement
to launch a digital asset custody solution for the Luxembourg financial industry.
The digital asset market is growing rapidly. Equities and real estate are being tokenized on public blockchains, while industries are beginning to introduce blockchain technology into quality control and authenticity processes at every stage of the supply chain. And this is only a glimpse of the use cases associated with this asset class. Institutional investors are even beginning to recognize digital assets as a store of value for the 21st century.
The question everyone is now asking is: how can you secure digital assets that can be worth millions or even billions of euros? Because when you lose the private key linked to your digital assets, you lose your assets.
This is where the collaboration between Ledger and Proximus NXT comes in. Ledger Enterprise Solutions provides its Ledger Vault technology, recognized as a leading digital asset management solution for banks, exchanges and financial institutions. Proximus NXT, which has been operating in Luxembourg for more than 40 years, has unparalleled expertise in managing financial infrastructures. Proximus NXT has always supported the Luxembourg financial centre and its stakeholders in their development. In this regard,
Proximus NXT deploys innovative tools and services aimed at keeping the Luxembourg financial centre at the forefront. More broadly, Proximus NXT supports its clients in their digital transformation.
Proximus NXT has established governance rules for the Ledger Vault platform that comply with Luxembourg’s local financial regulations. These governance rules will be deployed locally by Proximus NXT’s PSF experts in Luxembourg.
Located at the heart of Europe, Luxembourg is a stable country with a strong economy. There are many reasons for a company to operate in Luxembourg: it is one of only ten countries in the world with a AAA rating, its growth rate is consistently above the EU average, 40% of Europe’s Tier IV data centres are located in Luxembourg, and they offer very low-latency connections to all of Europe’s major internet hubs.
In Luxembourg, financial services benefit from a high degree of stability. Luxembourg is an economic leader offering high-quality infrastructure and services that provide connectivity to the digital world.
Alexandre Lemarchand, Vice President Global Sales at Ledger, said: “Proximus NXT is a well-established player that quickly recognized an opportunity in cryptocurrencies and digital assets more broadly. As such, they are making a significant contribution to the development of our industry. We are proud to collaborate with them and provide our expertise in technology, security and digital assets. We are now able to address the Luxembourg market with a turnkey solution for digital asset management that complies with local legislation”.
Daniel Soriano, Head of Core Banking Services & Cloud Business at Proximus NXT, noted: “Ledger is a recognized leader in both digital asset security and management. We are pleased to collaborate with them to address a growing demand from the financial industry: the custody of digital assets”.
