5G Innovation Platform
for Businesses and Organizations
Exploring the opportunities offered by 5G
The arrival of the latest generation of 5G mobile networks on the Luxembourg market offers numerous transformation opportunities for businesses and public-sector organizations. Today, it is up to them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by this new network to innovate, improve their competitiveness, or offer new user experiences.
Through this initiative, Proximus NXT makes 5G technology available to businesses and supports them through a co-creation approach, enabling them to focus on innovation within their core business.
“With increased transmission capacity and reduced response times (latency), we are seeing that 5G is, in a way, the missing link for many projects requiring mobility, flexibility and reliability,” explains Hugues Stiernon, Deputy Director, Head of Telecom Solution, Proximus NXT. “However, given the investment involved and companies’ lack of experience with the technology, it is not necessarily easy for them to embark on a 5G-based transformation project. One of the objectives of our initiative is therefore to enable them to assess the potential of this technology with our teams, validate their concepts and gain experience before making further investments.”
Leveraging a network of experts
Beyond 5G technology, Proximus NXT provides the expertise required in areas such as security, IoT, cloud and edge computing. It also relies on a strong ecosystem of partners with more specialized expertise, for example in augmented reality, drones and industrial automation.
Within Proximus Luxembourg, the Codit team leverages the scalable technologies of Microsoft Azure, supported by seamless integration between platforms, applications and data sources, in order to turn data into actionable business insights.
A similar platform has been deployed in Belgium, generating strong enthusiasm in the market.
Examples include:
- the implementation of an augmented or virtual reality application in the construction sector: Hooyberghs and Mr. Watts
- the use of drones in the healthcare sector: GZA Ziekenhuizen & Helicus
- IoT in the transport sector: H. Essers
